There's No Place Like Home

My father at home in our garage with Phillipa Watson (cutting up a mutton/beef)

Well as of recently I have started to become homesick....this is kinda weird for me because I'm not really the kinda person to miss home....especially considering my past and the relationship I have with my mum. Its sad really, I do regret all the fights we've had, when I see some of my friends with their mothers and the relationship they have....I think "why couldn't we be like that?" and in my mind it's too late to build that relationship.

It doesn't help that my mum and I are on different wave-lengths ALL THE TIME! Making it near impossible to see eye to eye on certain topics. My parents know exactly what I do and so on and so on... but they don't really take an interest in it. If I wanna go to a party while I was at home all I have to say is where I'm going to be. And now that I have moved out, I'm even more independant and they realise that there's not much they can do about the stuff I do.
I guess the things I miss about home is...
  • Mums Cafe/Cooking
  • My dad and his awesome (lazy) dinners
  • Dad's 'funny' jokes when guy mates call
  • The beach
  • Getting paua/kina in town
  • Chatting with anyone at the cafe
  • Driving without a license!
  • Staying with people for days on end
  • Play-fighting with my little brother
(Aunty Irene at home ---> )

Things I don't miss...
  • The awkwardness when someone you don't like is around you (and you have nowhere to go!)
  • Having nothing to do because it's a sunday and EVERTHING is closed
  • The slow dial-up internet
  • The expensive prices of junk food (or food in particular)
  • The scratched dvd's from Jade's
  • The windy days
I wanna go home =]
